CHAWU is about elevating your everyday ritual. We source high-quality teas from East Asia, and bring them into a modern, everyday moment. Whether you're simply brewing it or turning it into your favourite cafe-style drink at home.

We source premium specialty teas from Fujian, China. Each variety is selected for its flavour integrity and performance in milk-based and creative infusions.

We love both! It really comes down to how you like to enjoy your tea. Loose leaf offers a more traditional experience with full, unfolding leaves. Our tea bags are designed for convenience without compromising quality. We use premium tea and pyramid bags that allow the leaves to fully expand and extract. So whether you're at home or on the go, you're still getting a premium cup.

茶 (CHA) means tea. 包 (BAO) means bag. Each CHABAO contains one perfectly portioned serving of tea (4g), measured to extract the best flavour with every brew. Made from biodegradable corn fibre, they're a more sustainable alternative to conventional nylon and won't release microplastics when brewed at high temperatures.

It comes down to how the tea is processed. All three come from the same plant - the difference is how much the leaf is oxidised after picking. Green tea is minimally oxidised, giving it a light, fresh taste. Oolong sits in the middle - partially oxidised, which gives it complexity and warmth that works beautifully in milk. Black tea is fully oxidised. Our range currently spans green and oolong, both chosen for how they perform in cafe-style drinks.

Yes! Our teas were selected to perform in milk, over ice, with matcha, and in creative recipes. Find all our tried and tested recipes in the Brew Room and on our socials. And if you make something we haven't tried yet - tag us @chawu_tea. We'd love to see what you create. We found that existing tea brands were built to satisfy the traditional cup-of-tea occasion, then optionally adapted for milk tea. CHAWU is the inverse — designed from the ground up for the milk tea use case, with recipes, steeping parameters, and flavour profiles calibrated for milk and ice first.

Green teas generally have less caffeine than oolong teas, but the exact amount varies depending on how the tea is brewed - water temperature, steep time, and sachet quantity all affect it. If you're sensitive to caffeine, the two green teas (Jasmine Snow Bud and Gardenia Green) are the better starting point, and brewing at the lower end of the temperature range for a shorter time will reduce the caffeine extraction further.

To keep your tea at its best, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

We currently ship within Australia. Enjoy standard free shipping on orders over $95. Because good tea shouldn't come with a painful delivery fee. We're working on bringing CHAWU to your city. Pre-orders are estimated to dispatch in mid-June 2026. Once your order leaves our warehouse, delivery typically takes 1–5 business days. We'll keep you updated along the way via email.
